
Carroll Community College has appointed Ben Scheper to its Board of Trustees, recognizing his strong leadership background and dedication to community service. Scheper is the President and Owner of Apple Plumbing, Heating, & Air, a family-founded Westminster business he joined in 2009. Under his leadership, the company has grown significantly—from a small team with two trucks to a thriving operation with 40 employees and 18 service vehicles. His strategic, customer-focused approach has fueled the company’s continued success while maintaining its core family values.
Beyond his business achievements, Scheper has a longstanding record of service to the Carroll County community and the College itself. He previously served on the Carroll Community College Foundation Board since 2016, including a recent term as President from July 2024 to August 2025. He has also chaired the College’s Starry Night Sponsor Committee and supported numerous local nonprofit initiatives and sponsorships. His broader community involvement includes serving as a board member and treasurer for Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County.
Scheper expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, emphasizing his commitment to advancing the College’s mission and supporting student success. “Carroll Community College has played a vital role in shaping the future of our community,” he noted, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute at a leadership level.
Diane Foster, Vice Chair of the College’s Board, praised Scheper’s entrepreneurial mindset, financial expertise, and dedication to the community, stating that he will be an invaluable asset to the Board. Scheper resides in Westminster with his family and actively coaches youth sports, reflecting his deep ties to the local area. His appointment signals a continued focus on leadership that blends business success with community-driven values.
