Carroll Community College Theater Performance: Tartuffe
Constance Congdon’s witty verse adaptation of Molière’s classic comedy Tartuffe brings new energy to the tale of a pious fraud who infiltrates the household of the gullible Orgon. Convinced of Tartuffe’s saintliness, Orgon welcomes him into the family and even promises him his daughter’s hand in marriage—unaware that Tartuffe is secretly pursuing his wife, Elmire. As the rest of the family sees through Tartuffe’s hypocrisy, chaos and hilarity ensue in this sharp, fast-paced satire of greed, gullibility, and moral pretense. Directed by Emily Hall, Tartuffe invites audiences to laugh, gasp, and question who truly holds the moral high ground.
