McDaniel College shares that Carroll County 8th and 10th graders now have the chance to join the McDaniel College Carroll County Scholars program, a free initiative designed to help students and their families navigate the college search and application process.
Now in its third year, the CCS program currently serves approximately 400 local high school students. The program offers college readiness workshops, personalized guidance, and resources to help students make informed decisions about their higher education—whether that’s McDaniel College or another institution. Students also get the chance to experience campus life through special events at McDaniel College.
“Carroll County Scholars empowers students and their families with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the often overwhelming college process,” said McDaniel College administration.
Cohorts begin in either 9th or 11th grade and continue through senior year. Students who later enroll at McDaniel are guaranteed a $100,000 scholarship, $25,000 per year, and can compete for a full-tuition scholarship.
Participation is open to all Carroll County students—public, private, or homeschooled—without any GPA requirements. Students do not have to commit to McDaniel to benefit from the program as the college aims to encourage and empower local students to make the best college decision.
Since 1984, McDaniel has partnered with local businesses and alumni to provide scholarships for Carroll County students. The CCS program builds on that legacy, giving students additional resources and support to plan for college successfully. There is no cost to students thanks to McDaniel College donors who believe in their mission. Information sessions will be held in spring 2026 on Wednesday, March 11 (in-person) and Thursday, April 9 (virtual).
