Shirley Virginia Wantz, 89, of Taneytown, MD, passed away on November 19, 2025. Born November 28, 1935, in Emmitsburg, she was the daughter of the late John Lester and Maude Elizabeth Baumgardner and the devoted wife of the late Donald Eugene Wantz. Shirley worked at Mount St. Mary’s University for 31 years as a purchasing agent and later as a teacher’s aide at Taneytown Elementary. A lifelong member of Tom’s Creek United Methodist Church, she played the organ for 71 years, taught Sunday school, and directed the choir. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and was predeceased by two brothers.
