Robert “Bob” M. Preston, born on April 22, 1941, died on November 27, 2025 as a devoted educator, historian, and community leader in Emmitsburg, Maryland. A longtime History Professor at Mount St. Mary University and later Vice President at Trinity University, he inspired generations with his passion for American history. As Emmitsburg’s mayor (1982–1992), he worked tirelessly to strengthen his community. Bob cherished gardening, reading, and time with family. He is survived by his wife Ginny, four children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was predeceased by his son John. His legacy of service, scholarship, and love will endure.
