Common Ground Downtown Concert Series: Critton Hollow & Vandalia
The Common Ground Downtown Series presents an evening of American string band music spanning generations, featuring Critton Hollow and Vandalia. For over 50 years, Critton Hollow—Joe Herrmann on fiddle and banjo, Sam Herrmann on hammered dulcimer and guitar, and Joe Fallon on guitar and bass—has delighted audiences across the U.S., Canada, Japan, Ireland, and Scotland with traditional American string band music. Vandalia, made up of fiddler Dakota Karper, cellist Ellen Gira, and guitarist Gabriel Furtado, explores the depth and breadth of this tradition. Mentored by Joe Herrmann, the band honors old-time roots while weaving in influences from Celtic and bluegrass styles. The concert takes place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $25 for seniors and adults. For more information, visit Carroll Arts Center website.
