Margaret “Marge” Smith Wickes, 79, of Carroll County, Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, surrounded by family. Born September 2, 1946, she was the daughter of Fern Leroy and Gertrude Armacost Smith and the beloved wife of the late Gordon Wickes, Jr. A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, Marge devoted her life to creativity, education, and service, founding programs such as Creative Awareness and Imagine Art Camp. A passionate painter known for her joyful spirit, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, Christian, and compassionate friend to many.
