Kurt Oelmann was born April 9, 1933, to Max and Irma Oelmann and grew up in Arbutus, Maryland, alongside his brother Gary. He graduated from Catonsville High School and earned a law degree from the University of Maryland in 1956. He married Barbara Jane Gorsuch, and they welcomed their son, Kurt Jr., in 1967. Kurt passed the Maryland State Bar in 1968 and built a career with the Maryland State Highway Administration, retiring in 1996. An avid outdoorsman, traveler, music lover, and antique car enthusiast, Kurt is survived by his son and brother.
