Daniel Dennis Murphy, 88, of Mt. Airy, died Jan. 31, 2026, at home surrounded by family. Born July 8, 1937, in Minneapolis, he was the son of Thomas and Jane Murphy and the devoted husband of Cecilia Murphy for 66 years. A retired Chief Warrant Officer 04 with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division, he later served 18 years as a Nuclear Regulatory Commission special agent. His career took him worldwide before settling in Maryland. A lifelong athlete and competitor, Dan cherished sports and family adventures. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
