Flavius R.W. Lilly, Ph.D., provost at McDaniel College, has been named the 22nd president of Muskingum University in Ohio, the Maryland college announced Monday. Lilly will assume the role July 1 and step down from his McDaniel post at the end of the spring semester.
Lilly has served as McDaniel’s chief academic officer for the past three years, overseeing undergraduate and graduate programs and helping launch new degrees in fields including early childhood education, nursing, speech-language pathology and occupational therapy. He also played a role in recent campus facility projects and helped secure a $2 million state grant for an endowed professorship.

Before joining McDaniel, Lilly was vice provost of academic and student affairs and vice dean of the Graduate School at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Wright State University, a master’s in public health from Drexel University and a Ph.D. in gerontology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
McDaniel College is commencing with plans for a national search for its next provost, aiming to name a successor by summer.
