Alton Rex Friend, 87, of Fort Monroe, VA, formerly of Ellicott City, MD, passed away on March 22, 2026. Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Rex and Hilda Friend. Alton devoted many years as a Computer Operator for Baltimore Gas & Electric and was known for his strong work ethic and quiet kindness. He was a loving husband to Mary Catherine, a devoted father, and a proud grandfather. An avid softball player, he continued playing into his 80s and enjoyed the beach, birdwatching, and caring for his yard. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and deep love of family.
