Steve Moore, owner of Run Moore, has been recognized with the 2026 Delta of Maryland Lifelong Learner Award from McDaniel College’s chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa. The award was presented during the college’s Academic Symposium on May 4.

The Delta of Maryland Lifelong Learner Award honors an individual or group from the greater Westminster community who demonstrates the liberal arts value of lifelong learning by pursuing intellectual growth beyond their professional field. Established in 2017, the award celebrates curiosity, education, and continued personal development.

Moore opened Run Moore in 2014 as the Westminster area’s only specialty running store. Since then, the downtown business has become more than a place to buy running shoes and gear. Moore has built a hub for the local fitness community by offering expert guidance, group runs, books, nutritional accessories, and community-focused events.

Over the years, he has organized dozens of races and gatherings annually, including charity 5Ks, half-marathons, and popular monthly “Pub Runs.”

He has also partnered with organizations such as Girls on the Run of Central Maryland and local clubs including Flying Feet, the Westminster Road Runners Club, and the Westminster Wolf Pack Track Club.

In addition to supporting runners locally, Moore launched Camp Run Moore, a summer sleepaway cross-country camp for high school runners.

In 2025, he furthered his own education by completing the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses “mini-MBA” program through Johns Hopkins University, designed to help entrepreneurs grow stronger businesses.

Through both business leadership and community involvement, Moore’s impact has reached far beyond Main Street, making him a fitting recipient of an award that recognizes learning as a lifelong pursuit.
