Joan May Stiely Wantz, 89, died July 2, 2026, at Atlee Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Westminster, Maryland. Born December 6, 1936, she was daughter of late Vernon A. and Doris (Tracey) Stiely. Loving wife of James A. Wantz for nearly 70 years, they died five days apart. Devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother survived by sons Stephen A. Wantz and Gregory V. Wantz, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Retired after 32 years with Carroll County Public Schools, known for strong personality, resilience, love of family and coworkers alike, also enjoyed singing, gardening and spending time with family especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
