How does one plan for the future after such an historic event as COVID – 19?

I get this question whenever the U.S. goes through something that is new. While this occurrence is different, I do not believe that it is more detrimental than previous obstacles we have overcome as a nation. When my older Baby-Boomer clients ask me about today, I’ll ask them if they remember having to crawl under a desk as kids, maybe assassinations in the 1960’s, having to wait in gas lines, or even double-digit mortgage rates? These are just a few historical examples that caused emotional memories that made people wonder “how will I be after this?” My response is that while today may be different, it is also an opportunity to remember that we will overcome this challenge as we have all others. The important thing is to stay focused and stick to the plan.
