For 96 years, Babylon Vault Company has manufactured burial and cremation vaults, a product most people rarely think about until they need one. The company was built on the foundation of producing a quality product and providing a professional service. My father instilled in me that compassion and respect deeply matter when you are working with families during life’s most difficult moments. As the third‑generation owner, I am committed to continuing his legacy.
While following tradition is important, it is also essential to be innovative and explore new technologies, products, and processes. One initiative that I introduced is personalized vaults. Personalization is a way to memorialize a person’s life and their special interests by adding photos or painting the vault a certain color — and it is our gift to the family. We have expanded our products by offering monuments with complimentary on-site design services. My team works closely with families to help them create a meaningful memorial.
For eight years, my company has organized Wreaths Across America, an annual event that unites our community every December. Last October, we hosted the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall in New Windsor. The four-day event drew more than 9,000 visitors. The overwhelming response has prompted us to plan a new event for October 18: the unveiling of an Agent Orange Memorial Monument (the first in Maryland) that includes a special pinning ceremony.
As we approach our centennial anniversary, Babylon Vault Company will continue to embrace innovation while preserving the quality and personal service that built our reputation.
“Leadership is about having the confidence to make decisions and the willingness to embrace change. A successful business is defined not only by what it produces, but by how it treats its customers, employees, and community.”
