The Historical Society of Carroll County is once again bringing together music, history, and community with its signature event, Bluegrass, Bourbon & Bocce, set for Sunday, September 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. This unique early-evening celebration will be held at one of Carroll County’s most cherished landmarks: the Union Mills Homestead, located at 3311 Littlestown Pike in Westminster.
This year’s event promises an engaging blend of traditional and original bluegrass music performed by The Black-Eyed Suzies, a Maryland-based, all-female bluegrass band known for their energy and authenticity.
“I am excited that we are once again able to hold this popular event,” said Steve Bowersox, chair of the fundraiser. “We look forward to the music of The Black-Eyed Suzies—they’re the perfect ingredient for our late summer recipe of bluegrass, food, and fun.”
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or beach chairs to relax on the historic grounds while enjoying the live music. Limited seating will also be available.
Tickets are $40 for Historical Society members and $50 for non-members when purchased in advance. Admission includes a hearty meal featuring gourmet burgers and fixings, hand-cut fries, coleslaw, and ice cream, along with soft drinks and complimentary craft bourbon tastings. Additional beverages, including specialty bourbon cocktails, craft beer, and a curated wine selection from JeannieBird Baking Company, will be available for purchase.
Attendees can also enjoy lawn games and learn the art of bocce ball throughout the afternoon, making this event both a fundraiser and a “fun-raiser” for the community.
Bluegrass is a distinctly American tradition, and the Historical Society is proud to offer this festive occasion as part of its mission to connect Carroll County’s rich past with its vibrant present and future.
