Calvin Alphonso Sands, 88, of Sykesville, MD, passed away on October 29, 2025, at Lorien Nursing and Rehab in Columbia. Born November 5, 1936, in Cooksville to the late James and Rosa Sands, Calvin worked for many years as a cook at Springfield Hospital Center before retiring. He was known for his love of motorcycles and cooking. Calvin is survived by daughters Selina Sands and Regina Mitchell, sisters Audrey Avery, Sandra Smith, and Leola Young, as well as grandchildren Jason, Zachary, and Fayren, great-grandchildren Jayal and Jason Jr., and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by brothers Stanley, Thurman, and Freeman Sands.
