Filmmakers across Maryland — including those in Carroll County — are invited to submit their work as the Chesapeake Film Festival opens entries for its 19th annual event, scheduled for Oct. 8–10 in Easton.
The annual festival, held on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, draws filmmakers and film lovers from around the region for a weekend of screenings, panels and networking.
Organizers say they welcome submissions from emerging and established creators alike, offering a platform for student films, documentaries, environmental films, animation, narrative features and short films from around the world.

Submissions for the 2026 festival are now open through FilmFreeway, with early entries encouraged to allow additional review time for the festival’s programming committee.
The event typically attracts hundreds of submissions each year and curates a lineup of more than 50 films for screening.
While based in Easton, the festival has long drawn attendees and filmmakers from across Maryland, making it an accessible opportunity for Carroll County residents interested in independent film.
Screenings this fall will take place at several downtown Easton venues, including the Ebenezer Theater, the Academy Art Museum and the Talbot County Free Library.
Festival organizers are also celebrating the continued success of films featured in their 2025 lineup, with two selections advancing to the Academy Awards® shortlist — a milestone that highlights the festival’s growing reputation as a launchpad for internationally recognized filmmaking.
