Construction on a new shared-use boardwalk and trail segment along Maryland Route 27 in Carroll County is set to resume in early March, weather permitting, according to a recent project update.
The project, located near the MD 140 interchange in Westminster, will extend the Westminster Community Trail and improve pedestrian and bicycle access along the busy corridor.

As of February, the project is approximately 40% complete. Sections 2 and 3 of the elevated boardwalk are about 95% finished. Work was paused last summer due to design revisions needed to resolve utility conflicts in Section 1.
The contractor is scheduled to resume onsite work later this month, with crews expected back in early March if weather conditions allow.
The project includes a combination of asphalt pathway and raised boardwalk segments, as well as drainage upgrades and ADA-compliant crossing improvements. Once complete, the trail will connect existing segments and enhance nonmotorized travel options along Route 27.
