Douglas Richard Bates, 81, of Hedgesville, WV, passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2025. Born in Morristown, NJ, he was the son of Charles and Helen Bates and the devoted husband of Linda Diane Bates. A Parsippany High School graduate, he served in the Marines and later worked as a self-employed truck driver. Douglas was an active member of multiple Model T Ford clubs and loved touring in his 1922 Model T. He enjoyed NASCAR, caring for his home, tinkering in his garage, and time with his dog, Buddy. He is survived by siblings, daughters, and extended family.
