Edward “Ed” Harvey Smoot, 92, of Gretna, VA, passed away on March 31, 2026, at Bedford Memorial Hospital. Born October 6, 1933, in Granite, Maryland, he was the son of the late Edward Franklin Smoot and Virginia Elizabeth Sealock. A graduate of Milford Mill High School, Ed served in Korea before a 20-year career with the Baltimore County Fire Department, retiring as a Lieutenant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, and bluegrass music. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he is survived by his wife, children, stepdaughter, grandchildren, and extended family.
