2026 Klondike Derby
Hundreds of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are set to converge on the Carroll County Agriculture Center in Westminster this Saturday for the annual Carroll District of the Boy Scouts of America’s Klondike Derby. The event, running from Friday night through Sunday, involves Scouts as young as six engaging in team-building activities, even while braving the cold and windy weather. The primary focus of the Klondike Derby is teamwork and collaboration, as groups are scored based on their performance in a variety of challenges.
Possible activities for the Scouts include trekking through muddy grass, building sleds, a trebuchet launch, a zipline, a tomahawk throw, fire starting, and an obstacle course. Dozens of older Boy Scouts will also be camping overnight in tents on the grounds Friday and Saturday, with the scent of burning firewood filling the air.
