Foreign Film Festival: The Crime is Mine
The 2023 French comedy The Crime is Mine, running 1 hour and 44 minutes and not rated, will be screened as part of the Documentary Film Series. Set in 1930s Paris, the film follows struggling actress Madeleine (Nadia Terezkiewicz) and her best friend Pauline (Rebecca Marder), an unemployed lawyer, as they navigate life in a cramped flat while falling behind on five months’ rent. Paris is portrayed as a playground for industrial heirs and debonair architects, but its light does not shine equally for everyone. The film carries a suggested R rating for mild sexual content, nudity, sexual violence, and suicide, all presented in a comedic and satirical manner. The screening is generously sponsored by Jeannie Bird Baking Company.
