The Carroll County Arts Council and the Common Ground Downtown Concert Series will present the progressive-acoustic string band High Horse on Saturday, March 21, at the Carroll Arts Center.
Based in Boston, High Horse blends elements of bluegrass, old-time and folk music with the energy of alternative rock. The band features fiddler Carson McHaney, cellist Karl Henry, guitarist G. Rockwell and bassist Noah Harrington.

Drawing from their diverse musical backgrounds — including studies at Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory — the quartet performs original compositions alongside selections from a range of folk traditions. Their debut album, released in 2024, was produced by mandolinist Jacob Jolliff and engineered by Dave Sinko.
High Horse describes its sound as “progressive-acoustic,” combining the textures of fiddle, cello, guitar and bass to create arrangements that build on the traditions of bluegrass while incorporating contemporary influences.
The March 21 event will include a free beer tasting at 6:30 p.m. featuring brews from City Park Gaming and Brew and Pipe the Side Brewing Company. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets range from $15 to $28.
The Carroll County Arts Council is located at 91 W. Main St. in Westminster in the renovated Art Deco theater now known as the Carroll Arts Center.
