James “Jim” Grimsley, 87, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026. Born in 1938 in Thompson, Iowa, he was the eldest of four sons of Eldene Folkedal and Ervin “Bud” Grimsley. After moving to Hollister, California, Jim excelled in sports and music before earning an Associate of Arts degree. He served in the United States Army as a Czech linguist during the Cold War and spent over 30 years at the National Security Agency. Jim married Jeanne Roosen in 1965, raising two sons and cherishing four grandchildren. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, service, and integrity.
