If you’re feeling a little tired of the same old dining options and looking to try something a bit more exotic, then you’re in luck. Kinara Indian Cuisine and Bar has been serving traditional Indian dishes to the Eldersburg area since June of last year.

“All of our spices are imported directly from India,” says head chef Prenab Varadakar, who has more than 18 years of culinary experience, and takes pride in every dish his team prepares. But the spices and dishes aren’t the only authentic part of the Kinara experience. From exquisite decorations such as their indoor water wall and the minimalist instrumental music, your meal is guaranteed to feel classy and relaxing.

Kinara Bar

Upon entering, guests are greeted by a fully stocked bar, which makes for a great place to grab your first drink if you’re awaiting a table. Kinara’s staff provide service with a professional demeanor and a level of hospitality that is guaranteed to make you feel like royalty. And speaking of royalty, why not start with some delicious kabobs?

According to Varadakar, “Kabobs were traditionally served to the royal families of India.” The Tandoori Chicken and the Lamb Sheekh are two of the eight kabob options that Kinara offers. Freshly squeezed lemon pairs beautifully with either the bright chicken or the tender juicy lamb, both served on a bed of red cabbage.

Don’t let their simple appearance fool you though — both of these are packed with flavor but (in case you’re worried) are not spicy.

A variety of dishes can be sampled at Kinara Indian Cuisine and Bar to explore their flavorful foods.

If traditional spicy Indian cuisine is more your speed, then consider the Vegetable Jalfrazi. Straight from Kolkata, in West India, this delicious blend of vegetables bathed in a yogurt-based curry sauce features perfectly cooked bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes that leave every ingredient easy to chew without sacrificing texture. Despite packing some heat, this dish doesn’t forgo the flavor.

That said, curry doesn’t have to be spicy. Keep things simple with an order of classic Chicken Tikka Masala. With hearty chunks of peppers, onions, and chicken in a deliciously creamy yogurt- and tomato-based puree topped with fresh herbs, you won’t be disappointed. Complete the experience with a side of long-grain rice or, even better, a stack of house-made naan.

Naan is a soft oven-baked flatbread that pairs perfectly with any Indian kabob or curry — spicy or not. And Kinara doesn’t skimp on the variety, offering nine delicious versions of naan including garlic, rosemary, and cheese. You can even try some of their naan pizza.

Kinara is open every day of the week from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. If you’re new to Indian cuisine and not sure where to start, just ask your server for recommendations — or try the buffet, which is offered Friday to Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. So next time you’re in the Eldersburg area, do your taste buds a favor and stop by Kinara Indian Cuisine and Bar for a traditional and relaxing dining experience.
