Sometime in the late 1970s, Thomas Mudgett Sr. had an idea. In 1980, fresh out of South Carroll High School, that idea became a reality — Mudgett’s Auto Body was born! Tom wanted to create a business that took care of its employees, customers, and community. His goal was to deliver quality work and provide the best customer service in town.
Forty-five years later, we’re still following Tom’s plan. Mudgett’s has been named Carroll’s Best Body Shop for the 11th year in a row by the Carroll County Times. We were also recently named Carroll’s Best Body Shop in the first annual Carroll Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards.
Every car we fix is a rolling advertisement of our skills and the customer experience we strive to provide.
The Mudgett family and many of their employees live right here in Carroll County and continue to give back. They’re active as Chamber of Commerce members, Young Benefactors to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carroll County, board members of the College and Tech Center, and sponsors of youth and high school sports across the county.
Sadly, we lost Tom in 2022; however, his wife, Jean, along with their sons, Justin and Tommy Jr., are continuing his legacy by running his business that takes care of its employees, customers, and community.
