Roland Francis Sanders, Sr., 78, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at the Gardens of Gettysburg Nursing Home in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Born September 28, 1947, in Emmitsburg, Maryland, he was the son of the late Regis and Nadine Sanders and the devoted husband of Donna Irene (Wiles) Sanders, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Roland proudly served for many years as fire police with the Vigilant Hose Company in Emmitsburg and worked for St. Joseph’s Ministries. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, children, granddaughter, sisters, and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers.
