Steve Raley was born March 5, 1940, in Washington, D.C., to Irving and Rosalie Raley and was raised in Arlington, Virginia. After attending George Washington University, he worked over 13 years as a federal statistician before purchasing Berryland Farm in 1976, where he built a successful hydroponics business. In 1982, he moved his family to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as an agricultural project manager, later returning to the U.S. to work as a computer programmer for the Defense Investigative Service until retirement. A devoted Catholic, artist, craftsman, and family man, Steve is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia, six children, and 15 grandchildren.
