The GFWC Woman’s Club of Westminster presented two student art scholarships March 19 at the Carroll County Arts Council as part of Maryland’s Youth Art Month celebrations.
The scholarships were awarded to Eli Picataggi, a fourth-grade student at Linton Springs Elementary School, and Caidyn Smith, a student at Oklahoma Road Middle School. Their art teachers are Ms. Dieter and Ms. Crumb-Derr, and Ms. Novak, respectively.

Each recipient received a certificate and a $400 credit to be used toward summer camps or art classes offered by the Carroll County Arts Council over the next year.
The annual Youth Art exhibit, hosted at the Carroll County Arts Council Arts Center, features artwork from elementary and middle school students across Carroll County Public Schools. The exhibit runs through March 21.
In addition to the scholarship winners, the Woman’s Club recognized several students with honorable mentions.

- Colby Vander Veer, Grade 3, Winfield Elementary School (teacher: Mr. Kolakowski)
Middle school honorees:
- Auden Hadden, Grade 8, North Carroll Middle School (teacher: Ms. Breden)
- Gunnar Hennenman, Mt. Airy Middle School (teacher: Ms. Davis)
- Madison Hoey, Northwest Middle School (teacher: Ms. Linfield)
- Lana Ross, Grade 8, Sykesville Middle School (teacher: Ms. Rill)
- Rosemary Russell, Oklahoma Road Middle School (teacher: Ms. Novak)
The Woman’s Club extended congratulations to all participating students, their teachers and families.
