Yvonne Aasen, 94, passed away December 18 under Hospice care at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, Maryland. Born August 27, 1931, near Danzig, North Dakota, she grew up on a farm during the Dust Bowl years, developing resilience and determination. A registered nurse, Yvonne later devoted herself to family, community service, and lifelong fitness. A pioneer in women’s senior running, she set age-group records, competed in National Senior Games, and was featured by The New York Times. She was also a writer, editor, speaker, and genealogy enthusiast. Yvonne is survived by her five children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and brother Donald.
