No Kings Day Protest

WESTMINSTER, MD – June 15, 2025
More than 1,500 people participated in the No Kings Day March on Saturday, gathering in front of the Carroll County Office Complex in Westminster, Maryland. The protest focused on concerns over the policies of the Trump administration, with particular attention given to immigration enforcement.

The event took place in Carroll County, a majority-Republican jurisdiction where 54% of registered voters identify as Republican, and the remainder as Democratic or Independent. Despite the county’s political makeup, the protest drew a crowd that was mostly non-Republican, with a large number of moderate and centrist participants.

The majority of protesters were over the age of 40, and many carried handmade signs expressing their concerns. The tone of the signage ranged from bold and confrontational to calm and measured.

Several speakers who have been directly affected by federal immigration policies addressed the crowd during the event. Throughout the morning, event leaders made consistent efforts to encourage attendees to remain civil and respectful.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department maintained a presence at the event and reported that the crowd was well-behaved. There were no incidents, and the protest concluded peacefully at the scheduled time of 1:00 p.m.

Weather conditions were misty but manageable, and rain held off for the duration of the event.

The No Kings Day March is part of a broader series of protests taking place across the country in response to concerns over executive power and immigration enforcement. Saturday’s protest in Carroll County reflected the area’s evolving political character, with increasing signs of centrist engagement in a traditionally conservative community.
