James Steven “Steve” Brown, L.C.S.W., 83, of Sykesville, MD, passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2025. Born April 9, 1942, in Takoma Park, he was the beloved husband of Margaret S. Brown for 51 years. Steve earned a B.A. in Criminology from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Social Work from The Catholic University of America. Throughout his career, he was dedicated to helping children through therapy and group counseling, holding roles across various organizations including Family and Children Services and the State AIDS Administration. He is survived by his wife, son, siblings, and cherished pets, Belle and Tucker.
