Bello Machre offers individuals the opportunity to share and promote their entrepreneurial ventures with the Carroll County community. This Sunday, November 9, individuals will take part in the Bello Machre Fall Vendor Fair, held from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Best Western Hotel in Westminster.
The event will showcase the creativity and talents of individuals supported by Bello Machre, a Maryland-based nonprofit that provides lifelong care, housing, and employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.
Among the entrepreneurs taking part are Spike Valway and Kelly Sigmon, both of whom receive Bello Machre services and have built enterprises selling items such as baked goods, handmade soaps, pet treats, crafts and paintings.

The fair will provide interview opportunities with Spike, Kelly and other vendors, as well as with Dr. Robert Ireland, President & CEO of Bello Machre, who will speak to the organisation’s mission and the importance of employment and community involvement for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Founded in 1972, Bello Machre—whose name means “home of my heart” in Gaelic—operates more than 50 community homes across central Maryland and offers day and employment programs designed to help individuals live more independently.
The organization’s “Meaningful Day Services” and “Ray of Hope” programs provide job training, personal supports, and financial assistance for specialized needs such as adaptive equipment and therapy.
The fair aims to highlight the hard work of the participants and showcase how people with disabilities can create small businesses, contribute to their community, and achieve greater independence. Members of the media are encouraged to attend for vendor interviews, capturing their stories of business growth, creativity and resilience.
