The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is seeking sponsors, donors and community participants for its upcoming Out of the Darkness Walk, an event focused on raising awareness about mental health, supporting those impacted by suicide and funding suicide prevention efforts.
The annual walk brings together individuals, families, businesses and community organizations to honor loved ones lost to suicide, support survivors and promote open conversations about mental health.
According to AFSP, suicide affects individuals, families, workplaces and communities nationwide. Funds raised through the Out of the Darkness Walk support lifesaving research, education programs, advocacy initiatives and resources designed to help prevent suicide and improve access to mental health support.

Organizers are inviting local businesses and organizations to become event sponsors. Sponsorship opportunities include recognition through event materials, signage, social media promotions and engagement opportunities with walk participants and supporters.
In addition to financial sponsorships, organizers are seeking donations for event raffles and participant giveaways. Requested items include gift baskets, gift cards, coupons, discounts, promotional materials and other giveaway items.
The organization is also accepting donations of bottled water, juice packs and healthy snacks to support participants during the event.
Businesses, community groups and individuals are encouraged to form teams to participate in the walk and demonstrate their support for suicide prevention and mental health awareness. To find a walk near you, visit the AFSP walk map or participate in the Carroll County Out of the Darkness Walk on Sept. 20, 2026.
AFSP officials say community partnerships play a critical role in advancing suicide prevention efforts and providing hope to those affected by mental health challenges. Follow the jounry on Instagram and Facebook.
