The Westminster Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County Health Department and The Shepherd’s Staff will host the 10th annual Shop With a Cop event on Tuesday, July 28, at West Middle School.
The event, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will serve approximately 100 pre-registered Carroll County students. Each child will be paired with a law enforcement officer to receive a backpack filled with grade-specific school supplies for the upcoming 2026-27 school year.
In addition to school supplies, participating families will have access to free haircuts, vision screenings, health resources, food and entertainment. Activities will include tours of police vehicles, the Mobile Command Center, school buses and a meet-and-greet with K-9 Finn. DJ Crazy Dave will provide music throughout the event.
“This event is an inspiring way to kick off the school year by allowing children to interact with officers and receive much-needed supplies in a friendly, fun environment,” Brenda Meadows, executive director of The Shepherd’s Staff, said in a statement.
Organizers said the annual event is made possible through partnerships among local law enforcement agencies, community organizations, businesses and volunteers.
Registration for this year’s event has closed, and all participant spots have been filled. Media representatives are welcome to attend for photo, video and interview opportunities.
