The Eldersburg Library Leo Club is celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary with a handmade patriotic display created by its members and showcased throughout July at the Eldersburg Library.
The commemorative sign was designed and built by members of the youth service organization to recognize the country’s semiquincentennial while highlighting the club’s commitment to community involvement.
Participating in the project were Leo Club President Simran Kansagra, Redeat Abiy, Ire Koluwole, Sahil Kansagra, Snehan Malakpet, Hemen Abiy and Samuel Malykin. They were joined by Whitney Hasler, director of library youth activities, and Leo Club adviser Lion Diane DeAtley.
The Eldersburg Library Leo Club was established in March 2026 by the South Carroll Lioness Lions Club. The organization encourages young people to serve their community while developing leadership skills through the Lions Clubs International Leo program, which emphasizes Leadership, Experience and Opportunity.
The club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Eldersburg Library. Those interested in learning more about the Leo Club can contact adviser Diane DeAtley at 240-841-8728.
