Community Forum Scheduled at Town Hall on October 29
Voters in Mount Airy will have an opportunity to hear directly from the four certified candidates seeking the town’s highest municipal office during an upcoming public forum scheduled ahead of the special election this November.
According to an official announcement from the Town of Mount Airy, the Mayoral Candidates Forum will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. inside the Mount Airy Town Hall at 110 S. Main Street. The event provides a structured, nonpartisan platform for residents to evaluate candidate platforms on local economic growth, municipal budgeting, and community infrastructure planning.
Four Certified Candidates Seek Remainder of Mayoral Term
The town’s Board of Supervisors of Elections met earlier this month to officially certify the ballot for the special election, which was scheduled to fill the mayoral vacancy following earlier administrative transitions. As reported by Frederick Pulse, four candidates have officially qualified to appear on the municipal ballot in alphabetical order: Lynne P. Galletti, Clayton Gilbert, Karl Munder, and Tony Nathan.
The winner of the special election will be sworn into office on Tuesday, November 24, 2026, serving out the remainder of the current mayoral term through May 2029. Each candidate brings a distinct background in public service, community involvement, and local business engagement to the race.
Broadcast Coverage and In-Person Seating Details
Because in-person seating at Town Hall is limited, organizers have arranged comprehensive broadcast and streaming access so all community members can follow the discussions in real time. The forum will be produced and broadcast live by the Community Media Center of Carroll County on Comcast Channel HD-1072, as well as streamed on the organization’s official YouTube channel and digital website portal.
Local voters interested in submitting nonpartisan policy questions for the candidates regarding town administration, zoning policies, or regional transportation coordination can email inquiries directly to election coordinators ahead of the broadcast.
Special Election Polling Locations and Voter Information
The Town of Mount Airy Special Election will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, with polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. In-person balloting will take place at American Legion Gold Star Post 191, located at 801 Prospect Road in Mount Airy.
Residents residing within Mount Airy town limits who are registered with either the Carroll County or Frederick County Board of Elections are automatically eligible to participate in the town election. For voters seeking to vote by mail or drop box, absentee ballot request forms are available through the Town Hall administrative office and the municipal web portal.
