George Francis Gesell, 77, of Taneytown, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 27, 2026. Born March 13, 1949, he was a talented craftsman who spent 25 years as a farm machinery mechanic before working as a cabinet maker and eventually opening Gesell Custom Upholstery in Taneytown. He continued his craft until his passing. George enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with his wife, Barbara, who died in 2023. He is survived by his children, stepchild, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings. Through the Gift of Life Donor Program, George’s final act of generosity will help others through organ donation.
