What advice would you give to young women who want to succeed in the funeral business?
Sydney: Confidence is key. In the funeral business, every day is unpredictable so you must have the ability to improvise to meet your family’s needs. When entrusted with the care of someone’s loved one, you work in the highest level of professionalism. To find out if this is the right career path for you, I would recommend shadowing at a funeral home.
Heather: A successful funeral director is compassionate and patient, has good multi-tasking skills, and is a good communicator. Be present to your families and listen carefully so you can facilitate their wishes. Be professional and follow the code of ethics.
