Community members, including local candidates and other supporters, participated in this year’s 4-H and FFA Fair livestock auction, helping support the youth programs and agricultural traditions represented at the annual event.
Among those participating was Carroll County resident Corynne Courpas, a candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 42C. Courpas, who grew up in Baltimore City, became familiar with 4-H after moving to Carroll County and has attended the annual fair and volunteered in the foodservice area for several years.
Courpas has been involved in local community and political activities. In 2024, she was selected as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. She announced her candidacy for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 42C in February 2026 and was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Courpas will face Republican Steve Patten in the Nov. 3 general election.
This year, Courpas participated in the livestock auction and purchased a lamb. She had initially planned to purchase a pig but chose a lamb after pig prices were higher than expected.
Courpas plans to donate the lamb’s meat to Carroll Food Sunday. She will keep one frozen leg and plans to use her grandmother’s recipe to prepare a traditional Greek Easter dinner next year.
The auction provides an opportunity for community members to support 4-H participants while purchasing livestock raised by local youth.
