What advice would you give your younger self?
I would tell my younger self that so much of the stress that we put on ourselves is made up in our own heads. I would remind her to give herself and others grace – we all need more kindness (to ourselves and others) and most importantly I would tell her please don’t lay in the tanning bed after field hockey practice!
What key skills and qualities do you think are essential for women in leadership roles?
Women in leadership roles must be authentic to be effective. Each woman has her own story and if she is blessed enough to have an opportunity to lead others, she must first know herself. When we are able to confidently express core values and respect the diversity that each woman brings to the table, leadership becomes collaborative and greater things may be achieved.
More than ever women must lift each other up and adopt the “community over competition” philosophy. As a women-owned business there is a level of responsibility to care for, support, and mentor the next generation of women leaders. In my humble opinion our community is a shining example of women who genuinely support and care about each other. I have been shown such kindness and encouragement from my patients as well as fellow business owners, and for that I am forever grateful.
