McDaniel College has been awarded $2 million through the Maryland E-Nnovation Initiative Fund (MEIF), a state program designed to promote scientific and technical research at Maryland colleges and universities.
The grant will establish an Endowed Professorship in Computational Innovation and Emerging Technologies within McDaniel’s Mathematics and Computer Science department.
This new position aims to enhance the college’s Computer Science program by integrating hands-on learning, industry partnerships, and cutting-edge technology coursework. The appointed professor will lead student research, entrepreneurship projects, and foster collaboration with Maryland tech companies to address workforce needs.
This initiative reflects a broader push to align academic programs with the rapidly evolving demands of the technology sector, ensuring graduates are equipped with skills that meet current and future industry challenges.

The MEIF program, managed by the Maryland Department of Commerce, supports six Maryland institutions, collectively raising over $23 million through public and private partnerships to fund new research positions.
Since its creation in 2014, MEIF has awarded more than $98 million to stimulate scientific innovation and education across the state, providing vital resources for faculty salaries, research fellowships, and state-of-the-art lab infrastructure.
