James “Jim” Albert Wantz, 89, of Taneytown, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Lorien Assisted Living. He was the beloved husband of Joan Wantz for nearly 70 years and a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jim was known for his kindness, gentle spirit, laughter, and love for his family. A talented architectural draftsman, he worked with several firms, taught drafting, and retired after 29 years with Carroll County Public Schools. He also operated Wantz Drafting Services for decades. Jim was a lifelong member of Baust United Church of Christ, a Life Member of Pleasant Valley Community Volunteer Fire Company, and enjoyed music, farming, and time with loved ones.
