Janet Hood Barnes, 89, of Winfield, MD, passed away on September 1, 2025. Born June 14, 1936, in Mt. Airy, she was the daughter of Foard and Frances Hood and the beloved wife of the late James Lowell Barnes. A founding member of the Winfield Ladies Auxiliary, she served as President for 10 years and was honored in the LAMSFA and ACCVESA Halls of Fame. Janet loved reading, ceramics, her Koi pond, card games, and time with family. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Gardner.
