The Historical Society of Carroll County will celebrate the opening of its newly renovated spaces with a ribbon cutting ceremony and special community event on Thursday, July 9 at 5 p.m. in Westminster.
The event will mark the official opening of the Naganna Exhibits Hall & History Learning Center and the rededication of the Shriver-Weybright Auditorium, welcoming visitors into new spaces designed to highlight Carroll County’s rich history and heritage.
The celebration will also introduce the society’s new Carroll 250 exhibits, featuring Carroll County at 250: People, Places, and the Making of History and Main Street at Work. The exhibits will showcase artifacts from the Historical Society’s collection alongside items shared by Carroll County families and historic sites, offering visitors a closer look at the people, places, and stories that have shaped the community.
Additional spaces opening during the event include the Doris J. Hull Event Serving Hall, the Barbara Shipley Guthrie Docent Lounge and Gallery, and the Dave and Sharon Bollinger Kimmey Exhibit Room.
The Historical Society expressed appreciation to its staff, board members, volunteers, collections consultants Samantha Dorsey and Sara Coster, and the Shriver, Weybright, and Naganna families for their contributions in bringing the expanded spaces and exhibits to life.
The ribbon cutting celebration is free to attend, and no registration is required.
